Questions about your Faith.
(This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my policy disclosure for more info. Thank you!)
Whether we are a new believer in Jesus Christ or been a believer for quite some time we tend to forget to take time to reflect on our walk with Christ.
Taking time to ask questions about ourselves can lead us to an encouraging path of growth.
There are so many different questions we can ask ourselves to check where we are at in regards to our faith filled walk with Christ but in this post I only mention five questions that can easily be forgotten. Maybe because it seems simple or we don’t think it implies to us but I do believe these questions can provide answers about what we believe in and how confident we are in our walk with Christ.
Even if you consider yourself to be in a deep committed relationship with God and you are consistently thriving in your Word, I believe you can still learn more about yourself by taking time to reflect.
Asking yourself questions about your faith can help build your faith.
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
Jeremiah 33:3
5 Questions about your faith that may surprise you.
Do you believe God speaks to you?
I use to say yes to this question a lot. I thought; “Of course He does. I pray to Him, then feel peace when I am done. It must be Him speaking to me”.
Yes, God gave me the peace that I had received from Him during my prayers but it was not Him necessarily speaking to me. The peace came from the faith I was praying with. Faith of knowing God heard my prayers.
It was not till after my first experience of having the Lord spoke to me, I learned the difference quickly of when He was speaking to me.
One night I had a Pastor tell me, “If you allow it, the Holy Spirit will begin to dwell within you which is vital for your growth”. After that night I received the Holy Spirit for the first time.
I began to learn a lot about myself and my relationship with the Lord. It was exciting and new. It was marvelous. And much NEEDED!
Without the Holy Spirit you can not have a full mature relationship with God. We do not get in the business of Salvation for religion. When we accept Jesus Christ as our savior we should be investing in the relationship with Christ.
Just like any other relationships in our lives that we want closeness and intimacy in, we invest effort and time into it.
We pause to listen to the other persons voice. Our hearts pour out to our loved ones. We listen to what they have to say. We even sacrifice our own desires and just to be close to someone.
When you receive the Holy Spirit know that God uses the spirit to speak to you. If you receive it, you will definitely know it is Him!
“Put on the whole armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes.”
Ephesians 6:11
Is it hard to talk about or hear preaching’s
about Heaven and Hell?
Speaking and hearing about heaven and hell is not hard for me but to be honest about something to you….it is hard for me to read the Book of Revelations.
I am able to laugh about this sometimes because it is silly to me that reading the depth of the book gives me the chills sometimes. Most of the time I literally tell myself get a grip and get over it.
Just as much as I love reading all the Psalms in the Bible and reading all the beautiful blessings that it speaks about I also have to love the book of Revelations because its the Truth just as much as everything else in the Word.
We all want to believe in heaven but sometimes we forget about how real hell is. Knowing how real hell is will open our eyes spiritually. It will make us face that there is a devil out there ready to steal, kill, and destroy. It will keep us on guard and be ready with our full armor. Not being able to speak or hear about how real hell will cause us distraction of what the enemy will and is doing.
“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 10:32
Do you speak about your faith to others?
I did not put this question on the list for you to question how “radical” you are for Christ.
I am simply asking because this helps us reflect how confident we truly are in our faith.
Do you ever feel like there is opportunity to tell people about Christ freely but afraid of what they may think or how they may respond? If so, then finding scriptures of having confidence in God should be a top priority right now.
Not just to be able to speak freely but also to set you free. Our minds can lead us to make stories in our heads of what others are thinking about us and how we may sound if we speak about God. Even something as simple as saying “Thank you Jesus!”
Confession of Christ has no ties to limits and bondage. Set yourself free and your relationship with God free by studying about confidence in your walk with God. ( “For I am confident of this very thing, for He who has began a good work in you will perfect it till the day of Jesus Christ. “Philippians 1:6)
“I appeal to you, brothers and sister in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that all of you agree with one another in what you say
and that there be no divisions among you,
but that you be perfectly unite in mind and thought.”
1 Corinthians 1:10

If someone asked what your church vision was, would you be able to answer it immediately and confidently?
Some may think this question is just for the pastors, ministers, or associates of the church but it truly isn’t. Every congregant should know their church vision.
If you don’t know the vision of the church you attend then how can you confidently know what you believe in? If you are not in full understanding of the vision, find out quickly.
Learn what is the foundation of the Church. How did they start? What are their hopes for the saved and unsaved? What is their passion for their community? How do they accomplish goals? In unity of ministries or do they only have one Pastor leading everything? Do they believe in building up the congregants for their calling? What passion do you hear when you listen to the Pastors preaching or teaching? Do you agree and firmly believe in everything they preach and teach?
When you know all of this and more, you are able to be in accordance and grow with the church in maturity. Showing up to church isn’t what makes you grow. Being connected with the church encourages you to grow.
“Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ
and be taken forward to maturity…”
Hebrews 6:1
Are you ready to grow?
Saying yes to this question probably seems pretty easy. Who wouldn’t want to grow, especially with God?!
But here’s the thing, some do stop growing because they were not ready to grow. They may have thought at one point they were ready to do anything God requests of them so they can get to the next level but when the process started, it wasn’t what they thought it would be.
I personally know this feeling. I would go into my prayer closet and pour my heart out to the Lord and request for Him to give me more and have me grow in my gifts and calling. The Lord was faithful to my requests of giving me more, He began showing me things and giving me opportunities to be part of ministries. I counted it all as a blessing and still do because it taught me something.
It taught me to be well prepared, with my heart, to know my Word, and most of all be ready to sacrifice myself to do all for Christ. When you begin to grow in your gifts and calling its not about you. It about doing the will of God for His people.
You will have more responsibilities and become more accountable. Meaning; to not do by your timing, watch how you treat others, what and how you say things, being dependable and committed. Being ready to grow in your walk is a sacrificial act for the Lord.
My prayer for these 5 questions is that it encourages you to reflect. Even if you got all of this together and you were able to answer these questions with no doubts or wavering thoughts, I still hope it gave you a sense of accomplishment to know where you are and where you’re going with your faith filled walk with Christ.
Reflection is good because it will motive and encourage to continue. It shows you how far you have come. Even as I write these words on this post, it gave me much to think about. I count it all as a blessing!

Do you know your church vision is a great question for me. I am new and looking for a church so that was a great read!

So glad this post helped! I definitely encourage you to look into the church vision when looking for a church. The vision should align with the word of God and if it does then after that, hopefully the vision is what you hope you want to partake in. For example, if their vision is to reach the community surrounding them, is that what’s in your spirit you should be doing? Or if the church vision is to go do missionaries in different countries then is that what you feel you should be doing? Churches need members that are passionate and ready to do the work of the vision God placed on them. It is important that we as congregants take that serious and be willing to partake. I will be praying you find a church soon!
