Rebuilding my Blog.
After having our fifth child, there were many adjustments and compromises I had to make with blogging. It was not something I wanted to do nor was it easy.
My blog was growing steadily every month. I was consistently getting messages for collaborations and sponsored posts. It was a time in the journey that I was starting to feel confident about what I was doing as a blogger.
But one thing I personally can not do is put my first task of being a wife and mom on the back burner.
I never wanted blogging to become a thing where I would put being a wife and mother on hold. Plus, firm believer here that I can not create content about motherhood and wifehood if I am not living it. Just don’t make sense to me…..
So, as time went on, #5 was born, the blog suddenly became something I was working less and less hours on.
This is when my blog became a bit neglected.
By the baby’s first birthday, I was beginning to feel a little bit more organized and confident as a stay at home mom of five so I jumped right back into blogging. I was now giving back 15 to 20 hours a week into the blog again. Most of it being at night while the kids slept.
But first, I checked in on Facebook blogging groups I participate in (including my own 😉 and did lots of reading from other bloggers that was either writing about their recent journey of building a blog or of ones that was recently in the process of rebuilding.
I said “recent” both times because of this….
Online is constantly changing especially the things that can really help. It is face paced. New creative ideas and strategies are always happening so I try to look for blog posts that was created within just a few months time. This is where we can see what it working in live time.
Here are five things that helped me rebuild my blog and doubled my pageviews within 30 days after neglecting it for so long.
Each of these are strategies I am still using and only giving ten to fifteen hours a week to the blog.

Pinterest:
This is one area I highly recommend you to spend quality time on for your blog.
This platform has helped many bloggers go from little pageviews to a high number in such a short time.
But there is a catch….. you must spend live active time on this platform daily and invest time into creating cohesive and eye catching graphics with good keywords.
It will pay off to learn what works for Pinterest. Pinterest is a favorite platform by many bloggers out there; that finding info on how to grow Pinterest is pretty much a easy tool.
Just typing in the Pinterest search bar: “Bloggers on Pinterest” will bring up tons of blog posts of what worked for other bloggers.
Once you have Pinterest down: Learn how to create a brand with your graphics. Create graphics that will showcase what your blog post is about with using keywords (keywords: think of how you would find a post in a search engine. Lets say you are looking for a chocolate desert to make for a party, you would type in best chocolate deserts into google, right? Well, add that within the title of your post and attach it to your images.
This will tell Google and Pinterest what your post is about and will come up in higher rank). After feeling confident with Pinterest, you will now want to learn about Tailwind, which I will explain in a sec but first…..
I highly encourage you to challenge yourself to create 2 new pins per day for 7 days.
Add a title to the pin and a description of the post with at least two hashtags that compliments the post, and anymore details I mention below 😉 . This will show you how much Pinterest can increase your traffic by adding fresh pins with good details.
Carly Campbell from Mommy on Purpose (which of whom I love to follow for Pinterest!) has a paid membership for under $20 monthly. She creates multiple Pin templates monthly from the FREE membership of Canva for her clients. Pops right into in your email. You just need to edit them with your blog post title and blog site name. It is so simple! I love it and it literally saves me so much time per week!!

I cant not express enough how important Tailwind is to make Pinterest work to your full potential.
This scheduler works so good because of it’s smart queue. The smart queue works for you by finding the best times to post your saved posts. This was probably the top tool that doubled my pageviews within just weeks and still keeps my blog growing daily. The investment is well worth it.
At first I was not a believer but then a friend sent me a free month and now I’m hooked. I immediately signed up for the monthly which is only $15 a month.

5 Steps to rebuilding your neglected blog and how to grow your pageviews back up. Share on XImages:
I shared a little bit above of what to do with images but let me go into detail because this is a big part to making things work out for you on Pinterest and with SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
-When creating your graphics for a blog post be sure to create one that is a pinnable size: 600×900 pxl. I create mine with this size in Canva.
-When adding your title to the graphic, add at least two to three keywords within the title so when readers are searching for a specific post, they can easily and directly know what your post is about.
-Create cohesive images and always attach your blogs name at bottom or top of the graphic. This will also help you build a brand for your blog. You want people to recognize your blog posts graphics as yours.
-When uploading your finalized graphic to your blog site, add the title of the post and a few keywords following it in the title, description, and alt txt boxes. When doing this, the title and keywords will then follow that image every time it is pinned and shared. This will help Pinterest know what the post is about and will rank higher when searching for a specific post.
-To make sure your graphics are used to the fullest, add a Pinterest plugin to your blog so it is easy for readers to Pin your blog post on Pinterest. This will also make it easy for yourself to continuously share your posts.
SEO:
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is not just for helping you rank higher on Google and other major search engines (Bing, Yahoo, AOL… ect.) but by following simple SEO tips you can also make a huge difference on Pinterest.
What most do not realize, Pinterest is more of a search engine, not a social media. By following a few SEO tips you will reach more readers on huge platforms such as Google and Pinterest at once.
You can read more about SEO for bloggers in these posts I have linked within the “100+ Resources for New Christian Bloggers”.
Tech Help:
As bloggers, you know keeping a blog updated can be a bit intimidating and daunting.
By far, I am not techy at all. Everything I have learned about building a blog and maintaining a blog is through Pinterest, YouTube videos, and asking other experienced bloggers.
Though I have conquered many technical obstacles, I still find it to be a bit overwhelming to maintain a blog for daily updates, to prevent any hacking, spammers, and so forth.
After some research, I learned about Grayson Bell from iMark Interactive and the monthly plans they have to help maintain WordPress.
I am firm believer this has helped my blog grow in so many ways.
It helps my blog stay in good standing with Google Grayson’s team is constantly updating my plugins which keeps my site running fast without spammers. This is what Google looks for. I have also barely had to do anything to maintain the backend of my blog.
It has been such a stress reliever.
Within in the plans they also offer free small jobs which is very handy for someone like me, that does not like to do anything techy.

Engagement:
Engagement should always be a top priority. Engage with our readers, with others on social media, and with those in the blogging community.
Being present helps others get to know us, trust us as writers, and gives a opportunity to build great relationships.
When we build relationships we build a support system for our blogs.
Many of my closest friends are bloggers/writers that I have met from the beginning of my blogging journey. I have literally met over 15 other bloggers in real life after meeting them online.
It has been an amazing opportunity to grow with other Christian writers online and offline. They are always there sharing and encouraging me when I have new blog posts to share.
Engagement will also help you stay in remembrance of why you blog.
Twitter:
In the most recent months, Twitter has gone high on my referral list for page views so I can not do this post without mentioning it.
Though it is not has high as I would like it to be, it is still much more than it has ever been.
I think it is important to recognize what your second best resource and referrals of pageviews come from.
I am believer to work on two platforms at a time. Your second best platform after Pinterest may be Facebook, then work more in that area.
Learn how to use Facebook more as a Blogger, engage more, share your blog posts there more.
Twitter just happens to be that for me but it did not happen with luck. I started to engage there more with topics that match what my blog is about. Not just any random thing. I tweet, like, and retweet things that are in accordance with my niche.
This helped me build a following that I can engage more with.
This will be the same for you for any platform that is your second best. Engage more, build a community, and give to them what they expect.
That is it for what has brought the most success so far of rebuilding my neglected blog. I hope these steps can help you!
