Since 2014, there has been an annual event creating a legacy for students in public schools that are faith believers.
The event is: Bring your Bible to School Day.
Now, instead of just being the mom that takes your childs’ classroom boxes filled with donuts on National Donut Day, let’s also be the mom that makes sure to hand our child their bible on Bring your Bible to School Day.
Every year on the first Thursday of October, Bring your Bible to School Day stands active. The event was created by the ministry: Focus on the Family. Their desire is to empower children to share their faith with the word of God, their bible.
The ministry encourages students to register so they can sponsor the student with encouragement, with facts from Alliance Defending Freedom of your rights in public schools, and with material to promote the day with other believers.
Sadly, research has shown students were told they are not allowed to pray or read their bible in public schools. Which is not true. That is why this encouragement from Focus on the Family and ADF would benefit you as a parent of a participant.
Teach your children about #Bringyourbible to School day. Be part of the movement with them! Click link for more info on the annual event. Share on XBy 2017, over 500,000 students from kindergarten to college age registered as a participant of the Bring your Bible to School event.
Though signing up as a participant is not necessary to have the freedom to take your bible to school, I find it to be beneficial for the ministry to grow and to be encouraged to continue this monumental day to many Christian families throughout the nation.
Encouraging your child whether seven years old or a freshman in college leads them to understand their evangelistic trait as a believer in Christ and to learn their rights as an American. We are privileged with freedom of speech and religion. Let’s not allow shame or scrutiny of others take that away from us, especially in our faith.
As their parent, the best way we can exemplify our own faith to them is through action. Our action of inspiring our growing students to walk in their faith publicly by participating in days such as this day, National Day of Prayer, attending church regularly, praying and reading our bibles in the open may ignite a strong boldness within them to do the same.
For students/parents that would like to organize an event to encourage more kids to register for Bring your Bible to school day at their local school I highly recommend this article written on the BringyourBible.org site.
The article includes frequently asked questions of Bring your Bible to School Day and information about facing roadblocks and restrictions to conducting an organized day with the Alliance Defending Freedom.

You know, somehow I’ve gone so long without knowing Bring Your Bible to School day was a thing! Looking back, I know this is something my school would have most likely fought back on, I wish I had known more about this.

Prayerfully, more families can learn their rights even if schools try to fight back. I think Focus on the Family did a awesome thing to help us all learn more about this and to pursue our calling to spread the gospel. =)

I love the idea of placing a marker for a Psalm, Proverb, or story in the Bible for your kids. Love this post.
