Is your Blogging Site running slow?
Does your Blog need to speed up and stop losing you readers?
It takes so much time to load your home page that even you want to close out of your own site when you visit!
This had happened to me for a short time. I thought… if I don’t want to wait for it then who else would want to?!
My blog bounce rate gave me a clue that visitors were probably leaving pretty quickly too.
A bounce rate is basically how quickly a visitor on your website is leaving. The lower it is, the better for search engines to recommend your blog site.
The bounce rate is determined by how long each visitor is staying on each page and how many postings of your site did they visit during the entirety of their visit that day. You can easily find this by checking your Google analytics dashboard.
Why is it important to have a blog site that loads fast?
Having a slow load time can affect your pageviews and penalize you on Google and other major search engines. No one wants to click on a post, and it takes close to a minute for a page to load and search engines knows this.
The average load time for a site is about 3 seconds. Not all of us are going to be that fast but I believe we should all strive to be as fast as we are able to.
Make it a goal to reach for 5 seconds or less.
I am not a techy person by any means but below are 8 easy ways I have learned to help my blog site speed up.
These are tips I go back to consistently to make sure my blog site stays speedy.
8 Easy Non-Techy Things you can do on your own to help your blogging site load faster.
Cache consistently.
Clearing your cache consistently is a basic that not many know is a basic for maintaining a site. This is definitely something you should consider doing once or twice a week. You can easily clear the cache on your plugin dashboard. Google YouTubes if you need to, to learn how to cache your site. I promise, it’s easy.
Check for unwanted plugins.
Remove unwanted plugins that you are not using. Deactivating will stop the plugins from trying to run when your page is loading. This simple task can easily decrease your load time for blog site visitors.
Also, always update any plugins that need to be updated. Usually, your blog site dashboard will alert you if there are any needed updates. Be diligent to check all notifications on your sites hosting dashboard to be sure you are always up to date.
Upgrading your hosting plan.
Instead of immediately thinking you need to switch. Sometimes just upgrading the plan can be the quick fix. Possibly your pageviews have grown and the server size you are on is no longer big enough for the traffic you are producing.
Call and check with your hosting service on which plan can benefit your blog site at the moment and for the future. If you have already been using them, most likely they will give you a great deal versus losing you.
Choose a mobile optimized site theme.
Is your blogging theme optimized for mobile?
Most blog readers are on a mobile device. On average 70% of my readers are on a mobile device. If the load time is too long while on the mobile, many will just click out. Choosing a mobile optimized theme can help with this drastically.
If you place Ads on your site, make sure your Ads are mobile optimized. I recently saw that my Ads were not enabled to be mobile optimized. Once I enabled them, my tech guy told me it helped the load time by four seconds.

Optimize your graphics by making them smaller.
Though you have a Pin size graphic in your post, that does not necessarily mean to keep the image that size. Make it just a bit smaller to make loading graphics faster. You can do so by editing the size of the graphic/image once you have loaded it to the post. That will keep the Pin the same but the image in the post smaller.
Stay updated with external links in blog posts.
Make sure you are not keeping any broken links around. This can cause more time for the site to keep searching for the link that is no longer working till it will fully pull up the post. Google also knows when posts have broken links and will push your post lower down as a recommendation.
Hire tech help.
I cannot express to you how much hiring Tech Help has helped me blog altogether, plus has made my blogging time less stressful. I personally use Grayson Bell and he is the best!!! Click here for my affiliate link here for you to check him out but trust me on how awesome he is. I was referring people to him even well before becoming an affiliate with him. He’s just that good.
