Spiritual Warfare is one of the most needed subject we as Christians need to learn. Learning it well will help us become more equipped during the experience of warfare.
Whether it’s to learn how to war for your marriage, your children, for a drastic situation, or for a root of insecurities, the need to learn how to defeat the devil is necessary and real.
It is a subject that is vital for our walk with Christ. The word of God explains what we are fighting against and how we should stand against the schemes of the devil. Now, I mention “what we are fighting against” because although we think it is our spouses fault in our marriage or that it’s our children’s disobedience that brings trouble, this is not always the case. Opening our eyes to spiritual warfare will bring truth to situations if we allow ourselves to learn what the devil is trying to do to our lives and the lives around us.
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV
Ephesians 6 gives us the details of how to resist the enemy but some may say….”Standing firm against the devil sounds easier said than done?” And yes it is. Being able to stand strong and firm with our full armor depends on a supernatural strength from God. But it also requires us to train for the position to war and defeat the enemy. We are to train and become discipline in our post.
When a man goes out for war, he does not going out in his combat uniform with weapons but do not know how to use them or know why he is wearing camouflage. He is well trained and knowledgeable in why, what, and how he is to succeed in the unpredictable situations that come near him. He endures through the training and receives every piece of information needed to make sure his life and the lives around him is safe and stays alive.
They learn how to discipline themselves in following the leading and instructions of their leaders that have experience. They stand firm in their position day and night through the calm and the storm. Their strength is evident in their courage to never leave their brother behind.
We can learn so much in what men and women do for our country, especially about their training before being able to handle such delicate and tremendous life altering situations. Their training were done in steps. It was done by starting from the very beginning of small steps which then was built up to a point where standing firm and strong in faith became a natural reaction.
Wow, wouldn’t we all love to be in such a mighty knowledge and faith to be able to naturally fight with wisdom?!
This is why I love this weeks Salt & Light Link Up feature from Holly at Tea Time and Jesus. She gives three practical ways to resist the devil which are steps that will build you up to where you will naturally be able to stand in warfare. After following the steps in this post the devil wont even recognize you coming to fight back!
If you are yearning to grown in the area of spiritual warfare and learning how to resist the devil, this is a must read post.
How to Resist the Devil
Tea Time and Jesus
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
We’ve all been there. (Think back to Thanksgiving Dinner) We’re full and know we shouldn’t eat more but, just 1 more slice of cake, cobbler, pie won’t hurt. Or, just one more serving of mac and cheese, turkey, stuffing, dressing is okay. It won’t hurt anyone. (But me) I’ll go to the gym tomorrow. When in reality, we always know we should put down the fork and pick up the water. The devil is always seeking to lead us astray. He will take advantage in any area of your life that he can. Whether it be taking advantage of lenient eating during a holiday, or saying something you shouldn’t say about your boss who is constantly being used by God to help you grow. (if you get what I mean) We should seek to resist him.
Stepping over the snares he lays and into the strength that the Lord gives us.
So how do we get him to leave us alone? We resist him. It’s not passively ignoring him, but actually actively pursuing the things of God. Merriam-Webster defines the word resist as both to withstand the force of something and exert opposing force. It requires action. Just being covered by the blood is not enough to keep you from being tempted by the devil. He even tried tempting Jesus, so of course, he definitely will go after you.
How does Satan tempt us? He attacks our mind. Satan knows that if he can control your thoughts he can control your life. What we think affects what we feel and what we do. But, the good news is if we resist him, he will flee.

Hello Sister Carmen, Thanks for the encouraging words. Sometimes we feel we know everything and rely on knowledge rather than acting on it. And it is a reminder that having the weapon but not aware of the usage will be a disaster in our lives. And I also loved sister Holly’s post.. It is true that it all our choice.. We have to make the firm decision to have the weapons, we have to decide to be trained on it and we have to decide to win the battle with the help og God…
Thankyou…

Yes, Amen. It definitely is our decision everyday to stand firm in our faith and to use the tools the Lord gave us!

This is a timely post. Satan is busy stirring up trouble everywhere. I must remember that it is him not the person in front of me.

Amen! It is so easy to forget that but thank goodness the Lord is always reminding us through His word.
