It wasn’t till three years into my first marriage that I went seeking to get help for the multitude of emotional hurt and pain I was bearing through. The first three years of marriage brought shame to me as a wife. I truly believed I was enduring what I was because I was not good enough.
With my own strength (the little that I did have) I would push myself through the marriage and to excel at what I thought my husband needed from me. It was mentally and emotionally draining. The few friends I would open up to about the situations I was living through, would only encourage me to leave the marriage and try to make me believe we were going through all we were because we didn’t love each other anymore.
Those conversations never helped or brought peace with the fact that I knew walking away was not the answer.
When I finally started seeking godly help and counsel for my marriage, I began to feel freedom from my shame for the first time. I finally started to feel burdens being lifted off of me and most importantly; I didn’t feel alone.
Being part of a community that encourages you to pursue biblical principals for you marriage can and will give you more strength than you can imagine. I still don’t.
But God kept nudging me, so I’ve teamed up with some ladies who have accrued a lot of wisdom from Him concerning marriage. I’m excited to bring you their stories to help you make your marriage into less of a mess and more of a masterpiece!
