It is only the middle of February and already I am behind every goal I have made for 2018. Not because of taking on too many tasks (well….besides now being a mom of five) but because my motivation has just been ….. Ugh.
Slowly but surely, I felt my endurance decreasing just weeks before the end of the year. I reminded myself I just had a baby a few months ago. I have gained more responsibilities as a mother, wife, and as a writer recently. And truth is I was not keeping up with my health as much as I should have; which we all know can make a dramatic turn on any motivation we may have.
So many different reasons and excuses swept through my mind as to why I have not been as motivated lately. It even took me to a place of losing focus on the task to feeling like a failure.
The feeling of failure was not just taunting the motivation that was trying to come back into my life but it was also bringing condemnation on myself and everything I thought I once wanted to accomplish as a wife, mother, and writer.
The words, “What is the why?” entered….
These words just kept chiming into my mind. As I sought after God about this question, He reminded me of how much the “Why” kept me focus and going where He wanted me to go.
I am a wife because God called me to be a helpmate.
A mother of five and with that my tasks at hand will be to building up strong children that will follow the Lord.
I am writer to write His words for His glory! My desire is to build up others with encouragement through words.
Remembering my “why” to everything I do instantly brings motivation to my soul. Every task brings a result. The result should represent our why.
Why do I pray with my children every night before bed?
Because I hope for them to one day build a relationship with God and being a consistent example of what a relationship with God look like is vital to this result.
Am I tired some nights and want to skip the 10 minute slotted for prayer time just so I can lay down in bed that much sooner?
Absolutely! But remembering why I take the time and effort to be consistent on this task motivates me.
An effective way to stay motivated is writing down your “Why’s” to the important tasks in your life. Praying for and about your why can also help keep you on track. Ask God to direct your path. (A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9)

5 Ways to Stay Motivated.
The Good Life Diaries.
Staying motivated requires a lot of effort and constant reminders. But sometimes, life can be such a drag and our dreams/goals/visions seem so out of reach. We start to doubt that what we want is even really attainable.
I’ve got news for you – IT IS.
To keep from burning out, follow these 5 simple tips for staying motivated when you just don’t have the drive:
1. Remember Why – Whenever you find yourself feeling like you’ve had enough, dig deep to try and remember why you wanted to reach this goal in the first place.
First, ask yourself what motivates you; what’s important to you? Is it your family, your health, your peace, your dreams, your job?
Second, what are you ultimately trying to achieve? Follow it up with a why.

Loved this 💕 It’s a breath of fresh air to hear that other moms are not always on top of everything, and the things they do to get back into the groove of things.

Wow, thanks a lot for these great words! I’ve been working too hard in the last few months (well, the last 1,5 year actually) so I lost my focus and energy a bit. Your article definitely helps! Thanks!
