I am a mom that stands in the doorway of my children’s bedroom doors quite frequently to pray.
I easily wake in the midnight hour, roam the house whispering prayers. Then will subconsciously choose a door to one my children’s bedroom door to stand on guard and pray.
This is something I have been doing for years. It feels like one of my mom priorities and tasks that the Lord has placed in my heart since gaining the privilege to become a stay at home mom.
As my eldest daughter is preparing to graduate high school.
I am finding myself more and more at her door in the midnight hour.
To pour out prayers and to speak out loud scriptures that the Lord has placed in me for the future plans that are soon to be here. Her next stage in life will begin only ten days after graduation.
Excuse me for a moment as I shed some tears.
Yes, only ten days after graduation my firstborn will be states away from me!
After high school, I did not leave my parent’s home to go states away. However, I did move to the other side of town. My mom would pray with me every time I called crying about the new stages of life of paying bills and working full time. Which for an 18 year old is a hard reality check. She would give me scriptures to stand on and even though I was not saved yet, the scriptures consistently encouraged me.
As for my husband, he did go away to college. A few years ago when making photo albums for him as a gift, (because pictures in a big tub is not exactly sentimental) I found many cards from his parents during his college years that would be filled with scripture. As a young mom, I looked at that as something I hoped to do for our kids one day.
Three ways to start giving your New Graduate scriptures:
-
Start a journal for her.
-
Write scriptures on index cards and leave them for her every morning.
-
Start buying greeting cards you can mail to her while she is away.
