Recently, my personal friend slash blogger friend slash sister in Christ, Lori Schumaker and I co-hosted our first event together: ‘A Night to Revive’. It was filled with prayer and worship with the purpose to revive us as a Christian writer, blogger, influencer, marketer, small business owner, or any other creative that we know God called us to be.
Our focus wanted to be on the fact that when we base our title as a ‘Christian’ writer/blogger we are basing our entire foundation of what we do on Christ.
We have been called.
We have been anointed with a gift that only He can give us. Our gifts are not to replicate or create one.
We should be not allow our personal barriers to interrupt our ministries. Becoming a conqueror in our fears is important!
Lastly, we can only work with these gifts through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
As I was preparing my speaking portion of the event, I was completely and utterly ministered to through the word of God.
Embarrassing to say, no matter how hard I tried, I could not set on a topic to speak on till just two days before the event. I sought God every night, most nights with begging, to give me a word, to give me exactly what I needed to study on so I could speak with confidence on the night of, ‘A Night to Revive’. Without fail, God replied with the same answer every night for seven weeks.
“First, know the Holy Spirit. Do this by reading My word.”
Naturally I asked, “Read what? You word is wide and broad. What scripture?”
Questioning did not seem to help, it was still answered with: “Read My word.”
This honestly confused me. First I didn’t know where to start. Plus, not by any means am I an expert on the Holy Spirit but I do know that he dwells within me and leads me. I am well confident I have a relationship with the Holy Spirit, so why more learning about the Holy Spirit?
But God……was speaking straight to my heart to learn the character of the Holy Spirit. Not just know that he lives in me but to learn the purpose of the Holy Spirit in my life.
By the leading of God; I began the seven week journey of developing a more intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. I prayed, fasted, and read many scriptures that spoke to me as a writer that ministers the word.
Here are multiplied verses that I hope will speak to your heart as much as they have to me. Each one is for the purpose of building up the gospel of Christ. To edify the church as we minister and to realize what we do as writers is a ministry.

We are not just a “Christian Blogger”. We are anointed with the gift to expose the word of God. That we have the capability to reach thousands to millions within just seconds the moment we hit publish on the internet.
What a gift? What a high calling we have? And even more importantly, what an accountability we have to know the word of God?!

This is such an encouraging post. I recently started a new blog after closing one I had a few years ago but I could feel the tug of God on my heart calling me to write. I know this is what I’m supposed to do. And I love how you put it “We’re anointed with a gift to expose the word of God.” I so needed to hear that. This post helped to solidify what I had in my heart. Thank you for these wonderful scriptures!
