What to say when in Spiritual Warfare
I just read a tweet that said:
“A suffering person does not need a lecture – he needs a listener.” #Billygraham
Spiritual Warfare can definitely make you feel like a suffering person.
It can make you want to vent and rant about the attacks you are feeling from the enemy without anyone Saying. a.Word. You crave for someone to just listen and understand.
Trust me, as someone who has felt spiritual attacks more than I can count, especially in the mind, I know how it can feel like no one sees what you see. No one can possibly feel the pain and burden you’ve been carrying.
“No one can ever understand the fight you are fighting.”
That’s the thing though; making you feel alone is one of the most over used, repetitive, annoying parts of the enemy’s plan. To make you feel like you are the only one that sees what you see and everyone else is just going on with life just fine.
Can I be blunt right now and say something?
“Let’s cut that crap out right now! Do not let the enemy tell you that you are alone in this.”
You are not alone or crazy! You are not messing things up or messing up your life. That is exactly what the dumb liar wants you to believe.
You are strong in the Lord and you have all access to have a faith that is firm enough to punch the devil in the face and it makes him mad. It makes him want to wile up his crew to make “accidents, miscommunication, faults, and negativity” to just appear all at the same time to follow through on getting you to believe you are alone and no one is there to listen to exactly how you feel or what you are going through.
You are strong in the Lord and you have all access to have a faith that is firm enough to punch the devil in the face and it makes him... Share on XI was listening to a sermon recently where the preacher explained that the enemy was messing with his mind all week. He was preparing a sermon on anxiety and the devil did not want there to be freedom through the sermon so the enemy did what he knew best, he began to attack him to make him feel defeated. To make him believe lies that he was not equipped enough to speak the words he was hearing from God.
Whispering things such as: “If you are experiencing anxiety from me then how can you speak to others about it?”
The preacher was just hours from preaching this well prepared sermon when he had to stand to his feet and say:
“Devil, get off of God’s property. I am the Lords. I am a child of God and I am chosen. Get off right now in the name of Jesus.”
Oh how often we forget to do this! To speak right back to him. To fight him and let him know who truly has the authority.
I know, don’t get me wrong; sometimes we are just down right exhausted from fighting over and over. Right?!
It is draining mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even consumes us physically when the battles are hitting us in every which way.
In our marraiges, in our singleness, in our families, with health, finances, homes. Through our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Which is ultimtely his goal: to ruin our relationship with Jesus. But we need to see the bigger picture. To see the great outcome of our fight.
The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:17-20

I was recently reminded in a post of our already won victory in Spiritual Warfare:
“We don’t need to fight for victory, we already have victory in Christ.
In the midst of the battle, we need take our positions.
What does this mean? We have to know WHOSE we are, and know WHO we are in Christ.
If we don’t know who we are, we don’t know what we’ve been given.” – Flourishing Today
So take position to keep the victory that has already been given to us. Speak up loud and clear to the devil and put him in place!

I needed this today. I’ve been doing way too much listening to the enemy and not enough talking! I will fight him with my sword! He’s not difficult to dismiss, I just have to do it!

Carmen,
I heard an amazing teacher say once, “I don’t need to talk to the devil because I’m too busy talking to God.” My thoughts are that we lift our eyes above the things of the world. We stand firm; we pray. Pray isn’t to Satan, it’s to GOD. I pray to God and He fights because the battle is His, not ours. He has equipped us and empowered us, but we don’t need to waste our time talking to the devil when we can go to our Almighty Father who holds all things together. He will defend us. He will be a shield about us. I saw War Room, and loved it. I know some people do speak to the devil and rebuke Him. Certainly Jesus said, “Get behind me, Satan.” I just want to be sure we all focus way more energy on connecting to God than we do on speaking to Satan. I am sure you know what I’m saying as I bring this up in this context. Thank you for your diligent heart of prayer and how you faithfully seek God and lead others to do the same.

Patty, You are absolute right about praying to God only! He is our shield and no we do not need to waste time on conversating with the devil. Prayerfully I did not relay that message to any reader here. My deepest desire for any writing I do on spiritual warfare is for us to know there is a war out there but with Christ and through Christ ONLY we have authority to rebuke him. This is why I only place one sentence per item of what to say to the devil. We do not grow in conversation with him or with any evil spirits but we rebuke him with the word of God. That is the only way we are to speak to him. I do appreciate you writing with your heart to me here. I love that we can conversate as Christians on topics such as this. It keeps us in alignment and with integrity to the word of God. I pray more can give insight with the grace and love that you did here. Many blessings to you!! =)

Carmen, I simply adore you. I hope you truly know that. You bless so many with your generous and faithful serving heart. It’s amazing to me the way you have been able to empower so many bloggers to reach out with God’s love and the message He gives each of us. Your times of prayer in the Facebook Group continue to be treasures to me. I am grateful for your response here. Thank you for echoing truth and being so kind in receiving my input. I lift you and your ministry to God right now, as I thank Him for you.

I love how you give scripture to battle with because that’s exactly the model Jesus gave us when He was being tempted by Satan. I have a few that I have memorized based off what I like to call my pet sins and I just repeat those over and over and over. My biggest one is my mind and my verse for that one is “bringing every thought into captivity”…sometimes, I have to repeat that about 20 times in a row!

I definitely know what you mean saying verses over and over….. Oh’ boy, I probably do it more than I can count lol…. but I praise the Lord that we have such beautiful and powerful words from the bible that we can speak out loud to bring calmness to every battle. =)

I cannot even express here how much I LOVED this post and I am going to write those verses down because the enemy has been coming against me HARD the past 2 months!! You’re right…we often forget to speak out and tell the liar to take a hike! We forget the power we have in Jesus’ Name and that is exactly what he counts on!
Thank you my dear sister for this post!! I needed this so much!! Much love to you!

The devil has no power over a child of God and the more confident we are in whose we are then it absolutely helps us to claim the Holy anointing power that we have as God’s child! Such great things here Carmen, to encourage us in our battles!

I agree that it’s the devil’s mission to throw us off of our faith journey. If he can plant a seed of doubt in our mind, he will continue to water it with issues, problems, trials and circumstances. He will do so until the seed of doubt is now a fully grown plant that has disconnected itself from its water supply. Great read!
